Young Bannsiders to take on Westport Challenge...

Our Under 15 age group gear up to take on the Challenge of the Westport Summer Cup.

The wee Bannsiders will travel to Westport to take part in the tournament over 3 days from 22nd - 24th July.

The squad will play 5 games against strong opposition:

Wednesday 22nd July:

• Castlebar Celtic FC - KO: 5:30pm

• Galway United - KO: 7:20pm

Thursday 23rd July:

• Sligo Rovers FC - KO: 4:30pm

• Neuchatel Xamax - KO: 8:10pm

Friday 24th July:

• Westport United FC - KO: 10:55

Once all the 5 games have been played, the final match will be a place match to confirm the position in the tournament.

The overall squad will consist of 17 players:

Ronan O'Donnell will be the Head Coach for the trip who is accompanied by assistant coach Ronan Curran, club physio Blayne MaCauley and Head of Academy Pascal Vaudequin.

Ronan O'Donnell had this to say about the trip ahead...

"The Westport trip will be a brilliant opportunity for our young players to have an experience outside their normally routines firstly in being away from home and secondly the volume of games within a short period of time against some really good opponents. For some players this might the first time they have experienced an opportunity like this whilst for others it might be similar to Super Cup NI or International camps which some of the players have been exposed to. There was a lot of interest from LOI clubs to be involved in the competition and thankfully we have been selected as the sole club from NIFL to have been invited down. We'd like place on record our huge thanks to the staff at Xamax who have worked alongside some staff members at different clubs including our own Amanda Reid in putting this together, the tournament has been in planning for a long time so to be part of it next week will be brilliant for the players."
